Vocabulary Tips:
Using an English language dictionary is essential in order to improve your English language vocabulary skills.
There are many English language dictionaries available. You can choose an English-to-English dictionary, such as Merriam Webster.
If you speak another language, you may want to use a German dictionary or Chinese dictionary, for example. Indeed, many countries manufacture very affordable, portable electronic dictionaries that can be useful for your English language studies.
There are also subject-specific dictionaries. For instance, law students will want to purchase a good law dictionary or legal dictionary, such as Blackwell's Law Dictionary.
Of course, many publishers print a variety of other subject-specific dictionaries, such as medical dictionaries or computer science dictionaries.
All of these resources will help to improve your English language proficiency.
However, research has shown that you will improve your language skills more efficiently if you use a monolingual dictionary or subject specific dictionary.
